President Michael Sata has described as successful the just ended 18th African Union (AU) summit held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. President Sata who attended the AU leaders’ summit for the first time said the meeting managed to bring to the discussion table many issues of common interest. In a brief interview at Addis Ababa Bole Airport shortly before departure for Lusaka, Mr. Sata said the meeting made significant achievements which he promised to discuss later. President Sata meets UN Chief Ban, US Special Envoy for Africa Carson
PRESIDENT Michael Sata has met United Nations (UN) Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon on the margins of the 18th ordinary session of the African Union (AU) Heads of State and Government Assembly. The president held a closed-door meeting with Mr Ban in the new AU complex in the company of Foreign Affairs Minister Given Lubinda. The meeting with Mr Ban’s entourage lasted for 45 minutes and attracted a horde of international journalists. President Sata also met Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs Jonnie Carson.
